How To: Blogging for Money
In this, our first “How To” series, Blogging for Money, we take a look at what blogging for money is and how you can make up to a full time income with blogging. Yes, even if you never knew what it was.
So What is Blogging?
Blogging is a just term for writing about what interests you. That can be anything from parenting, cooking, gardening or even restoring old motorcycles. Some find great pleasure in sharing what they have learned about their hobbies. Other bloggers write product reviews based on items they have purchased, or want to purchase in the future.
A blog is just an internet based journal of sorts. A place where you share with the world what sparks a fire in you. You never know it may possibly resonate with your readers as well. That is the ultimate goal. You want to attract readers who are as interested and passionate about your topic as you are.
The best part about blogging is that in just writing about your hobbies, interests, family, or skills – you can turn it into a great second income or even a full time income if you choose the right niche. A niche is just a fancy word for your topic and target audience.
You will have to do some research to find out if your topic has an audience. Even if you think no one of the face of the earth is into your hobby – you may be surprised to find it is a popular topic. You also want to make sure that your topic is not saturated in the market, this makes it very hard for a beginner to get a foothold in the niche.
There are many things to know before you ever start planning your first blog. Even people like me who have been writing online for years have to keep learning all the time. We find that we learn new approaches and tips to make our work more compelling. New tricks to make the creation process easier or faster. As well as new ideas that will seem like the Google universe has blessed you with getting increased traffic (visitors) to our articles and posts.
Blogging is not a get rich quick solution, it takes months and sometimes even years to see the results we want, but if you’re the kind of person who is willing to learn, and put in the work, things can fall into place much quicker. The best thing you can do for yourself in the early stages is to find a mentor or group of other bloggers who are doing what you want to do. Follow advice for improving your work, and continue learning the best practices for getting your content seen and mostly enjoyed by readers.
That is where the next part of this article comes in….
Beginning Blogging for Money Course
I belong to a great community on Facebook called the Pajama Affiliates. In this group of supportive men and women, I learn new things all the time, and I have been writing online since the early 1990’s. I wish I had found a group like this back then… there is no telling how much more successful my online blogging would be.
The Facebook group is free to join, and you can participate and ask questions, follow discussions and get a better idea of what all of this blogging for money stuff is about. (When you request to join, remember to tell them Cathy sent you!)
Robin Cockrell and Lesley Stevens have put together a fantastic course called “Step By Step Blogging Course” that is great for beginners and even those who have been writing online for a while but haven’t really been able to convert their writing into an income.
In this course there is everything a beginner needs to learn the basics of blogging, from what you need to include in your blog and how to set up a WordPress site, how to find a profitable niche and how to choose keywords that will convert your articles and ideas into sales and commissions. They even help you to learn how to find affiliate programs that will pay you for advertising their products. They have other courses available as well, but I’ll save that for another post.
One thing I love is they teach by using videos. There isn’t a long to read boring PDF file to download. No, they have video tutorials for each step of the process that you can watch and then watch again as you need to. Plus they are almost always available to answer your questions if you don’t quite understand a particular concept about the course.
If you still aren’t sure if blogging is for you, remember that the Facebook group is free to join and both Robin and Lesley will gladly answer any questions about the course that you may have.
If I can do this – you can too. My earnings are on the rise since I started actually implementing the methods these two very cool and smart ladies teach, and I know it is only a matter of my putting in the effort to really have a nice income from home.
What will that increased income mean to me and my family? I don’t know just yet, but I think it will mean eating better, enjoying more quality time together and having enough money coming in to take those vacations we always wanted to. No requesting time off from your boss – because YOU are the boss.
I love working from home, I love being here when my family needs me. Whether my daughter is sick and needs a little more attention, or my husband needs a hand with a backyard project. I am never unable to accommodate their needs. It also affords me the time to teach my First Grader here at home, something that is bonding us in a way I never imagined.
Read more about Robin Cockrell and Lesley Stevens below and see an example of how much they have made with blogging at home for money. You will know that they are the real deal when it comes to knowing how to make money blogging, and not some guru type that promises the world and tells you you’re going to make thousands of dollars overnight. It really doesn’t work that way and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying through their teeth.
Hope to see you in the Facebook Group! You really won’t regret it!
The Ladies Behind the Step By Step Blogging Course
at Pajama Affiliate
Robin Cockrell is the owner and creator of Pajama Affiliates. She began the site in 2012 and the course was developed over time as a natural progression of her topic.
In August of last year, she sold another website “LoveGirlTalk.com” that she created over several years for $20k. Robin did this for many reasons, primarily because she wanted to focus more on the Pajama Affiliates where her passion lies.
That is a great accomplishment for a woman who only a few years prior had lost most of her online earnings when a shared site she was writing on sold out and closed down.

Just seeing the amount of income these two ladies have generated by working online should be convincing enough that they really do know what they are talking about when it comes to blogging for money.
I thought I knew it all before joining this group, at least all that I needed to know to be an affiliate marketer with online retailers. I was surprised at how much I didn’t know, and how many things I was doing flat out wrong!
Lesley Stevens is a work at home Mom that I have had the pleasure of knowing for many years. She too has many websites of her own where she blogs about toys, home decor and her work at home site called “The Lesley Show“.
Lesley has amazing success as an affiliate marketer, which she has created many tutorial style videos in the Step By Step Blogging Course with Robin.
Anyone who can make upwards of $10k in ONE MONTH knows the ropes and I want to know her secrets! Honest and as sincere as you get, this is one lady who impresses me daily with her drive and desire to not only support her family, but to help others do the same.
